Discussion on Diversity in Balint Groups
3/12/2026
8:00 PM - 9:00 PM EST

Event Description
The ABS Diversity Committee invites you to a facilitated discussion to explore some of the complicated dynamics that arise in Balint groups when the Balint case raises issues related to the full range of diversity and difference.

Hello! As we move through Women’s History Month, we decided that focusing on gender in Balint work would be timely and intriguing. We have included several publications by Enid Balint. Apparently, we have a lot to learn about the depth and breadth of her contribution to the Balint movement. The brief 1963 article could serve as a point of departure for our discussion, along with the following questions:
  • How has gender surfaced in your groups?
  • Have you noticed any gender patterns in relation to cases are presented?
  • What about group members’ responses to cases based on the gender of the client/individual being presented?
  • What can we learn by focusing our attention on gender? What do we sacrifice by ignoring it?
  • When: Thursday, March 12, 2026
Where: 8:00 - 9:00 pm Eastern
Who: Any ABS Member leading a Balint Group
Cost: $ 0.00 (Free)

In order to ensure that we have adequate time for all to participate and benefit from our discussion, we are limiting attendance to 12 participants. If you register and you're unable to attend, please let us know so we can give your spot to someone else.
